KENOMA // voice+memory

[ This takes place the evening after the first event described in the Event Wrap Up post, the entity having withdrawn its influence from Venera.

Binghe is in a bit of a bad mood, having had to haul Makoto's unconscious body out of the street when he would have preferred to drop him in the ocean, and as things are currently he can't really be bothered to pretend that he's not. There's some attempt to be polite, but mostly he sounds kind of tired and cranky. ]

My apologies for the interruption. I am Luo Binghe. No doubt many of you have heard at least a little of what has happened lately in Venera. I was there for the event at the heart of it, so I thought perhaps it would be of some use to share a few of the details.

I am sure it will not come as any great shock to learn it seems to have been the fault of that dog Estinien Wyrmblood. The spirit that seems to have been responsible for what has been happening was so angered by his death that it appeared to smite anyone who tried to keep it from... I don't know, I think it wanted his shard. I don't know what it would have done with it. Kept him as a pet, perhaps, in one of its illusions.

If I am honest, whatever this thing was it seemed rather simple, like the ghost of a child, but it clearly possessed immense power. The Aions of Pleroma who were there, their unconvincing promises about—taking care of him in its stead, that kind of thing. That was enough to convince it to retreat.

I think it did something to them, though. I'll show you.

[ He shares his memory of this moment, when the mass of wings demanded that those gathered keep their promise, grasping onto those closest to it with its ethereal hands.

The image fades and Binghe's voice resumes: ]

So the problem has been solved, but only temporarily. The spirit was not destroyed, and it seems if these Aions fail to fulfil its whims it may return with something worse. It might not be so easy to persuade next time.

Is there anything specific you'd like to know? What I have to share won't be much different from what Luo Binghe already covered, however.

Some kind of barrier, perhaps?

There could be a way to overpower such a thing if more force were applied, if that's the case. Bullets are only small projectiles.

[ There is a soft sense of annoyance at this. Not for the idea of sharing information, but that yet again he has to serve as this Dragoons spokesperson to the Kenoma. Again. ]

He did not seem openly hostile when I approached him for conversation, although I made no efforts to provoke him or his allies.

It seems that he would rather judge each Kenoma based on their own merits and answer accordingly. With that in mind, as I have said, Your Kenoma title may be provocation enough to guarantee no clemency. I suspect that this experience will be cause for even less mercy than before.

[ His voice turns serious. ]

Though he appears reasonable in all regards, heed me that he is not above revenge.

[ Cue some serious frustration starting to transfer across Howl's communion. How the hell can he ask for specifics when all that's been mentioned so far is the ultimate final outcome. ]

Is it really so hard to simply tell a story from the beginning? Or are those of you who were there hiding something?

It robbed someone of their sight, I think, and someone else's legs gave out. It did something to M too, but I have no idea what exactly. You'll have to ask him for that, I'm afraid.

[ unperturbed by that frustration, kaeya's tone remains neutral as ever. ]

I believe that was covered— Estinien's death caused this entity to appear, mostly distraught over what happened to him.

Nothing is being withheld. It's simply not relevant to what this creature is.

It might be possible, but it didn't seem worth it to experiment at the time.

[ hm... ]

I agree with Emet-Selch.

Still, his targets for revenge would be specific, although chances are he won't be letting any Kenoma have a chance to make an individual impression on him now before he passes judgment. This type of death is about as insulting and offensive to a warrior as you can get.

I suppose even children know how to bite when angry.

Of course. It's a basic survival instinct. [ haha. ] Either that, or they'd cry.

[ He thinks for a moment. ]

Louisoix Leveilleur's grandson. Louisoix was a respected Sage of Old Sharlyan and part of those who wished to see their homeland united. From what I gather, it seems he may share in that dream.

Some time ago, the boy even tried to start his own little faction to unite the people of Eorzea, and his inexperience allowed those same faction members to betray him. I heard it was quite the entertaining debacle. The 'Crystal Braves', was it? [ Oh, he seems so tickled by that. ]

His combat skills are magically inclined. Elemental spells, some healing skills, and the like. He seems to prefer fighting with the aid of well-crafted words.

I didn't witness that part. What happened, specifically?

[ Felt some of it, sure, but feelings do not a complete situation make. ]

Haha, isn't that what every power-seeking entity claims, though?

I doubt it's powerful enough to do any "reigning" upon its return. Not everyone encountered this presence, which means Estinien was basically a kind of vessel for it, no?

[ ugh. this is very uncute of you, bro. Howl does not respond, choosing instead to try asking the others. ]

Crying goes a long way, too, sometimes.

So, what do you think, Captain Alberich? For example, would you rather fight that or Dvalin? Fight it or an archon? Some kind of scale comparison like that would be worthwhile.

Cursed you all with some kind of "peace," right?

Amazing how miserable such a normally "good intention" can become when twisted out of line.

You came out unscathed, though, it seems. How's that?

So none of us were there to witness the actual event? Other than M.

[ He's not judging or anything, just looking for clarification. ]

[ He doesn't leave a comment exactly, but there is sort of a...silent regard in knowing how he views Estinien. ]
