He can acknowledge that he fucked up attacking other Kenoma, even though he didn't intend to harm them, but in his heart of hearts, he doesn't see his relationship with the Regent as commander and subordinate, but that of two beings trying to solve a problem together. His commitment is to the Kenoma itself: the Kali Yuga, the death that precedes rebirth.
