[Barnaby doesn't notice they have an observer, a combination of being so used to being watched when being in the public eye is practically a default state of being for him anyway, along with the state of the courtroom being so chaotic that one person glaring hardly stands out. Instead he's turning over J's words in his mind, wondering what he means by that. Had he just been grateful for his company, poor as he was sure it had been? Whatever J got out of it was just as elusive as the rest of him. Yet it lodges in heart, a simple recognition that if anything does happen to him, there's at least someone who would care.
