HAYAME ➳ PLEROMA (VOICE)
[One member of Pleroma has intentionally avoided Communion for months, but now... perhaps it can actually be of use. Now, she actually requires something that she cannot accomplish through strength or stubbornness alone, so-

(1/3)
I could help!
( always eager... perhaps overeager. )
What do you — ...
(2/3)
it's not like it's a level of violence he's never seen before, but it's not exactly what he had expected. in the future, that will probably change. )
(3/3)
( he would like to say he's not a coward )
no subject
It will list their crimes.
"For service to the Regent"... "for supporting the destruction of other worlds"...
Such as this.
no subject
( it makes sense, perhaps...? how many samurai movies has he seen. it's probably not an insignificant amount. )
I assume you'd want that written out in - um, hm, do they have a word for it. Horosian? Horos... script...?
( ASSUMING she wants the people here to be able to read it, though he had just about been able to start drafting an image of what the message would look like in (what is most likely entirely too modern for her personal tastes) japanese. )
no subject
Yes. It must be legible to the other Achamites, so that they might learn what fate awaits them with continued loyalty to the Regent.
no subject
as he drafts this, he listens to the other discussions, his own thoughts buzzing, low and pensive. he doesn't necessarily mourn these soldiers — as far as he's concerned, they're storm troopers, and no one's really mourned any of those dying — and though he is concerned that this might have some negative impact on the citizens of the city... well, they might be well past that point before beheading came into the equation.
so instead he just sort of asks, venturing, ) Is this... something that you've done before?
( for a young man, he seems remarkably nonjudgmental. sure, collecting heads is pretty extreme, but... considering he's always sent to deal with the most dangerous cursed spirits and curse users, he's been a bit desensitized. )
no subject
There's a pause that might be too long, her inexperience with communion making a confusing mix of shame and anger and a dash of nausea potentially detectable through the shards. As quick as she can, though-]
It is what a warrior does. I was unsold, not untested.
[- It sounds like it answers the question. Sort of. She was surely a warrior, and so surely this is not her first head.]
no subject
still, despite all of this, he can't help but confusedly parrot, ) Unsold...?
( um... maybe that's the wrong thing to focus on. it's not something he would press any more than he already has, instead continuing, )
No, it's not that I'm surprised. I mean, it would be silly if I thought that considering you nearly shot me with an arrow that one time... ( the first and likely not the last time. )
It's just a different way of thinking about this sort of thing, is all. The organization I worked for always worked in secret... It would've been a problem if normal people noticed the violence that went on around them any more than they might have already. So that's why I asked.
( without any further fanfare, he sends her a mental image. the horosian script is plain, but he had tried to picture it in a way that would be as easy to copy as possible.
FOR:
SERVICE TO THE REGENT
SUPPORTING THE DESTRUCTION OF WORLDS )
I can read it, if you want, but it's pretty much what you already said.
no subject
Unsold.
[She just repeats it, as if the problem was that he hadn't heard her properly.]
I am a warrior, not a spy or ninja who works in shadows.
[Why should they? What honor was there in that? And if it's one thing she needed...]
... Add my name. With all of the clucking over this, I will be kind enough to absolve the rest of you from association.
no subject
he does feel like he understands a bit more, now. )
Oh, wow, a ninja or a spy, huh...? That's the first time I've ever heard a comparison like that...
( his teacher would probably laugh. yuuta had never been what anyone could call "subtle." with the amount of cursed energy he had... trying to be such was sometimes like trying to water flowers with a firehose. )
...I'm not really sure if adding a name will do that, but... hmm, I guess it couldn't hurt.
( it's not like anyone could use her name to find her in the forests beneath greentruth.
after a moment, he provides her name in clear script: HAYAME )
no subject
[As much as she struggles with it, she's slowly working towards realizing that... the cultural points and concepts that had been homogeneous across her own world (as far as it extended) could not always be applied here.
But she keeps accidentally doing it. What else does she know?]
Whatever will keep the fussing to a quiet volume.
[Is that what her name looks like, written in this world's script... ?]
... Perhaps add "Aion".
[She doesn't want to claim the title. But if she does, perhaps people will stop worrying for Venerans.]
no subject
I just... Hm. It doesn't really seem accurate enough. What about "exorcist"? Did you have anything like that where you're from?
( considering hayame would have met rika at this point ... there is probably a deep irony embedded in someone calling himself an exorcist who is basically accompanied by a ghost at all times. in his defense, it's a long story and not exactly the case, but...
he can't help but chuckle. ) You're staking some heads and you're worried about ruffling peoples' feathers?
( he provides the specification: AION )
Unfortunately... I think life will be very hard for the people of these cities regardless of what we do. It seems to me like that's just one way the Regent tries to contain the damage we can cause... by trying to hold these people hostage, in a way.
( he doesn't think it means they shouldn't try, but... it will be difficult and upsetting, no matter what they do. not unless they manage to free them, but this week has shown him just how monumental a task like that might end up being. it always seems so easy in movies and comics... )

[She’d seen once, hired to cleanse a battlefield nearby of lingering spirits, heard tale of the itako in the mountains…
“Rika”, admittedly, she likely ascribes in her mind to some sort of intensely powerful shikigami, so it makes enough sense, but…]
I am not staking them. They’re not executed prisoners.
[… Not that she wouldn’t, oops, it’s just… a different circumstance of beheading…]
They are enemy combatants. I will set them on a table.
[People here really just don’t know anything…
The chuckle makes her hackles raise, though.]
Worried isn’t what I am. I just don’t want the annoyance of voices in this shard whining at me.
no subject
( it wouldn't be very impressive to her.
there are plenty of sorcerers back home who think of rika similarly, though she technically defies the classifications of one as far as jujutsu sorcery is concerned. shikigami typically require a medium — paper talismans, shadows, strands of hair, something physical and tangible to tether them to the world and give them form. though much of her power is sealed within rika's ring under a binding vow, it isn't a medium for her form, which seems to exist invisibly around yuuta and manifests through his power. both here and back home, she's a bit of a mystery... but, then again, so is yuuta. )
Oh. Okay, sure, table them, then. ...Is that better or worse?
( yep, the contextual color for the type of beheading completely escapes him. )
They'll just go away when you put it down anyways. Don't worry about it. I mean, their heads are already cut off, right? It's not like complaining about it is gonna fix that.
no subject
Her annoyance at all these people she's "talking" to not knowing the difference between a head on a spike and one displayed on a table is... probably very clear with how inexperienced she is with Communion, but...]
It's more respectful.
[She said that with her whole chest.
But also, he is right. What do people expect her to do, just stick it back on???]
no subject
( he's going to say something stupid in 3, 2... 1... )
Well, yeah, that makes sense. If I was a head, I'd rather be placed on a table than impaled on a spike, any day.
( logic )
no subject
If you were a head, you wouldn’t want anything at all!
It’s about the difference between just execution as a criminal or serving as proof that justice was done and as a warning to others who might think to follow your filthy ways!
no subject
( he can't really think of anyone with a cursed technique like that... but he's also pretty sure that panda's head could've probably come off, just like how his arm had when he'd fought getou. but panda was full of stuffing instead of blood and guts and stuff, so maybe that's not... a great... point of reference... )
Wait. So if you're killing both the prisoner and the soldier for the sake of justice, what's the difference between staking them and tabling them again? Aren't you just putting one in prison first? ( please stop )
no subject
[So there!!!]
The difference is the message! And the rank! Do you think they put warriors and men of standing on spikes? No, they should be used to spread a message to the populace.
Common criminals can just decorate the prison gate and be content with that.
no subject
( but anyways, he'll take her word for all of it. it... mostly makes sense? )
Alright, well... I hope it sends the message you want it to.
( you know, namely that there's a giant samurai centaur woman running amok and wreaking havoc on achamite soldiers. )
no subject
But he did provide her with text to copy for the sign, so.]
The message is simple. If they pervert it, that is the fault of their own minds.
[There.]
