[ The voice is clear, and despite the fact that she's rarely spoken through communion, surprisingly clear, and with no lack of authority to her tone. ]

I have discovered that there are some among us who have come into some sort of magic, or abilities, since arriving. Some even have a gift from before they arrived, that has thus gone unutilitzed. [ Rand. ]

If we are to be at war -- to win against a foe with greater resources than we have, then we should utilize every advantage possible. I know I've spoken to others here, who have a great deal of competency with the arcane. I believe it would be best, if we pooled our resources, to teach those among us who are not so practiced. Whether it is powers granted in this realm, or... [ said with a bit of a laugh: ] simply magic, there are methods to make them simpler to call, or with practice, they can take less effort to use.

While I'm no professional instructor, I have advised others on the use of magic when they were new to workings before, and any sufficiently trained magister can instruct another on at least the basics, and I think we should do so before we find ourselves on the field again. Even if you are practiced with your gift, I am sure there is worth in working together, to learn how our respective talents can work together, before we allow each other to be exposed, or even worse: injured or killed.

[ A pause. ]

Consider this a...statement of intent, if you will. I normally favor staying in Godsblood, but given the...volatile nature of unpracticed magic, I think I will find myself an appropriately sized clearing near Greentruth, if others wish to join me. A scant few days of instruction, if you will. I do not think it will be hard to find, if you are in the vicinity in the next few days. If others are willing, perhaps it will be of use, to make this regular for practice.

[ ooc; I'll be intending to put up something of a loose open log for magic-based folks to collaborate/help out any characters who are just coming into new powers, want practice or instruction, or just want to strategize with magic-related combat in general later this week! ]

It's more like... knowing what ingredients one would need to make the precise foul, Callowan stew; as opposed to a Praesi soup, or a Levantine stew.

[ All those weird names, but the impression of three very different soups is left. ]

But do you have all the ingredients you need? It sounds like you're just shifting the alignment of aether, right?

Each ingredient is a...factor, as it were. One must just...contemplate each individual factor, and come to the correct measurement.

[ Thankfully, Akua had been taught to cook, as well. Her education had been much more well-rounded than most. ]

Is aether...the magic force of your world?

So it's a bit more like baking, specifically.

[ There is much less wiggle room there, she's learned from her own experimentation. ]

Aether is what makes up everything. It's around us right now, too.

[ At least that's how she sees it. ]

With some practice you can pull the aether from the natural world and use it to cast spells.

[ If only Akua had the modern sensibilities to call it "the force" ]

Mm, That sounds... similar to a different kind of magic I know of. Using the...fabric of creation to carve the world to your will? That's a... powerful sort of magic.

Ahh, it's not quite the same as what we would call "Creation Magicks".

[ Though she realizes there are many more similarities when compared with the sort of magic Akua is familiar with. Himeka really hadn't considered how different they could be before. ]

I'm not able to...say take ambient wind-aspected aether and turn it into a coffee biscuit. But I can draw it to me to cast an Aero spell, which is wind-aspected, or concentrate further and shift it's alignment towards...say water instead.

Closer to a transmutation, then?

[ She asked, curious. Certainly, that sounded similar to the magics of the Titans, where they sung and wove the ancient ways to their will. One would touch the fabric, and nudge it in a different direction.

It's a rare thing, and not something Akua would ever have the capability to do.

Although, given that there was only one human on Calernia who'd been given such an honor, in honestly all of its history. ]

It sounds...unique, I suppose. I simply take the energy and bend it to my will, it has no...qualifiers to it, it's simply energy, but you say you see it all as different. [ Himeka can likely feel the touch of amusement, there. ] A difference in perspective, perhaps.

[ She had gotten to see it first hand when she travelled back in time but it is still something she is incapable of doing. Himeka had never really considered what she does to be close to that, but...mayhaps that's not far from the truth? A much lesser version, at least. ]

It sounds like it could be. Mayhaps we should just demonstrate to each other and see what happens?

[ Maybe she'll be able to feel the aether out a bit. ]

I wouldn't be opposed. [ A tone of amusement. ]

I feel like it's my...duty, of a sort, to see all the different types of magic that exist from all these different worlds, regardless. It's... such a fascinating problem, to have all these different magics in one world. I wonder how this plane doesn't strain from the unique energies gathered.

[ Himeka chuckles at that. Not at Akua, of course, but there is a sense of mirth on her end. ]

You sound just like a friend of mine. She would have also reveled at the opportunity to learn about the ways of magic from other stars.

[ There's a small laugh. ]

Indeed? I have a friend who is very similar. He would kill me in my sleep if I didn't do everything in my power to learn about these different magics. Mind, I'm motivated myself, but...doubly so, in his stead.

I suppose that is something we can be grateful for in this place? Seeing things we may have never known to exist.

Exactly. I've... walked other planes myself, but nothing like... this. I feel as though we've stepped into something wholly new. It's... like being explorers, however forced it is that we're here.

Mind, it sounds like there were Aions before, but I feel as though we're unsupported enough, we may as well be exploring on our own, and forging new paths.

[ She's so glad that Akua gets it! It's a dire situation by many standards, but there are still good things involved in it. Interesting things, at the very least. ]

Mhmm. There were, though...it seems like most of the Pleroma haven't made it. That makes it more important for us to get all our chocobos in a row, right?

[ She gets caught on that, although she doesn't disagree with her. But really... what, on earth, are those? ]

Oh! Yes they're these giant birds from Eorzea that are commonly used as mounts or pulling carriages and the like.

Well, she's seen weirder, but still... ]

Do you not have horses?

Oh yes, there are horses in Othard and on the Steppe. But in Eorzea they mostly use chocobos. I prefer whales, myself!

Ah.

[ She sounds slightly phased. Even Akua, who had known Catherine and her plethora of undead steeds of all stripes named "Zombie, Zombie II, or Zombie III", etc. She'd stolen a Pegasus from the Fey realms, and a Raven Beast, but not... a whale. ]

That sounds rather inconvenient, doesn't it?

[ She wouldn't be caught guessing, that the Whale could fly on the moon. ]

Mm...yes he is a little on the large side, so sometimes he isn't the best fit for travelling through tight spaces.

Oh then he can fly! So open skies aren't a problem, but crowded woods? A little difficult.
